Chemically speaking, chocolate really is the world’s perfect food. – Michael Levine. Did you know that there are over 2,500 studies that exist just on chocolate?  For a while science didn’t pay too much attention to chocolate but in recent years new found interest has regenerated studies because of what some claim it has done for them. What they have found and continue to discover is that chocolate is good for you in many ways.

Chocolate helps your mood, helps your heart by helping to reduce cholesterol and lower blood pressure. It helps your eyes, your skin, and promotes weight loss.  In it’s raw form it is very high in antioxidants that give our bodies the tools that it needs to combat and neutralize free radicals that are killing our DNA.  It is very high in fiber, it contains a natural compound that is a stimulant called Theobromine and it does not affect your nervous system like caffeine does.  In it’s raw form it is a whole clean food and something you could live on daily providing your body with all the vitamins and nutrients necessary to stay healthy and promote wellness.  Some people have even talked about how raw organic chocolate have helped them to sleep better.  Of course, everyone is different and what may work for one person may not work for another.gourmet-healthy-chocolate-raspberry-tart

Chocolate is also an extremely important tool that doctors have begun to recognize and use as a tool to help their patients to feel better because of the natural anti-inflammatory properties in it.  Dentists and cardiologists are recognizing that inflammation in the mouth is a direct pathway to the heart.  Germs that are associated with heart disease are gaining access and zip-lining to the heart through the mouth.  Using raw organic chocolates and asking patients with increased or sever inflammtion to consume along with a health diet and lifestyle change has shown promise.

Reflecting on the History of Chocolate you will remember that doctors used to carry ‘cacao’ chocolate in their ‘little black bags’.  During house calls for stomach aches or coughs they would administer small amounts of raw chocolate and was considered the ‘cure-all’ back in the day.   Theobromine was very effective in aiding coughs and Lewis and Clark even carried chocolate with them during their expedition.

After the industrial age came to be, Dutch processing entered the picture to help enhance chocolate so that it became more affordable for everyone and to help remove some of the bitterness.  Sadly when that was done much of the medicinal properties were stripped from chocolate.  Over the last few years new companies have been finding ways to recapture the essence and power of chocolate by creating some powerful raw organic chocolates.  We now have several available to choose from and those who are consuming this type of chocolate are truly enjoying and reaping the benefits of chocolate just as they did thousands of years ago.

Selecting this type of chocolate and eating it regularly has also been shown to be very anti-aging.  Helping your skin and helping to turn the clock back years!  Having experienced this myself and baffling my doctors has been an education for them and for me.  Western Medical Doctors spend very limited amounts of time in med school studying ‘nutritional therapy’. Most Western Medical doctors have not been able to understand an embrace raw organic chocolate as a natural medicine unlike Holistic doctors. Interestingly enough and baffling as it may seem, Western Medical Doctors have begun to experience less income each year and one reason may be that patients have been searching for alternative medicine choices. Doctors who have begun adding raw chocolate supplementation to their existing businesses are providing an alternative for their patients. The best of both worlds may be to diagnose Western Medicine and treat Holistically. Chocolate really is quite amazing, is a natural medicine and is quite possibly the most nutrient dense food on the planet.  Chocolate is a universal word and when you can explain how and why chocolate is good for you so that people really understand, then it’s just a matter of helping them to discover raw organic gourmet healthy chocolates.
